With rumors about Toyota's baby 86 , refusing to go away, I can see Toyota having the chance to repair the mistake it made by badging the 86 as a Scion. They could badge the baby 86 , as the next Scion FR-S and call the next 86, a Celica.
Because an FR-S can be anything, even a RWD 5 door hatchback, it has no heritage, but a Celica, needs to be a Celica. Here's an idea for the design,

Any car aiming to draw in young buyers is going to be a Scion.
I don't understand why this is an issue for people. It's a badge.

It's an awful name and an awful-looking badge, just like Lexus.

Not really, price is everything, no haggling too. A Scion shouldn't be more expensive than $22.000, they had a long debate when they decided to badge the $25.000 86, as a Scion.

No, because Toyota should have sold their luxury lineup just like they did in Japan: under their own badge. Reason 1: infinitely cooler names (Altezza, Celsior, Soarer, Windom, Aristo, etc.). Reason 2: No ugly Lexus badge.

Actually, in Japan sales of premium Toyotas surged after they we rebadged as Lexuses, and numbers are growing as Akio Toyoda leads Lexus into a real premium automaker. Toyota did the Lexus thing, by the book, you're European, look around you, at BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Jag, Volvo and the dead SAAB, using names instead of alpha numerical acronyms, didn't worked for any of them. Premium buyers that are not car guys(and most aren't) don't want to have their brains full of car names, so a few numbers to name cars, are more familiar to them, they probably work with them at their high paid jobs everyday.
I like the badge, is an L, for Lexus, just like Superman got an S on his shirt, it is Toyota's way to tell us that Lexus cars, are in a way, SuperToyotas. I like that.

The no haggling thing was meant to keep dealerships from marking up the cars. Something Subaru dealerships are doing to the BRZ with $5,000+ markups.
